Avisynth never completes execution of a script

Post by BasharOfTheAges » Fri Sep 19, 2014 7:23 am

So, I've been just dealing with this problem for a year. I've reinstalled avisynth at least twice in the time, but the problem doesn't go away. I run a script, could be complicated, could be as simple as a single import line. VirtualDub goes through everything and produces a working file, but never completes execution. This kinda complicates running in batch mode. Any ideas? This sound familiar to anyone?

First time hearing of this... which build of VirtualDub are you using?

1.8.8 and would you know it, the day I bothered to finally write something up about it is the day it stopped doing it. I legitimately have no idea what was wrong, but every piece of footage I've transcoded since late 2012 had hung until today. Bizarre.

http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

Considering the latest stable is 1.10.4, I'd still suggest you to update.

I seem to remember occasionally having issues with scripts hanging at the end when using mencoder with Xvid output, but mencoder is notoriously broken in lots of ways. That was years ago, though - and kind of pointless now that the libavformat demuxer is mature (so ffmpeg or mpv are the only real preferred choices here, most of the tangible difference for encoding being that mpv's presets are easier to compose).
