AE + Combustion are similar, but both are somewhat difficult to master get the hang of. Rather steep learning curve. I would go with AE unless you want a particle engine that's really pretty looking... :p

AE is also a good bit less expensive than Combustion, IIRC.

Combustion 3 is $995, while After Effects 6.0 is $699. After Effects 6.0 Pro is $999. To match the feature set of Combustion, I think you'd have to go with AE Pro.

Well... I like particle engines like Particle Illusions... I love that one. (funny thing is though... I can't even seem to get the grasp of changing the word that is spelled in the matrix code. I know how to change other words like the MTV one... but not something more complex like the matrix... ohwell) Does anyone think that Particle Illusions would get this "Witch Hunter Robin title" typing effect that I want?

Actually that's what Combustion uses, the particle illusions engine. So ;D yiah that's it. Umm, I have just as much of a clue as you do on how to use it ;_;.
