3 years ago today I uploaded my first amv on YT, here's my latest to celebrate. 195 different couples from across 225 different sources and before anyone asks, yes, I've watched every anime and played every game presented in this amv/gmv. Except Final Fantasy Versus 13 since it's not out yet :P Even though r&b's my favorite music genre, due to life and projects with other editors I didnt have much time to make my own vids this year and I only made 2 r&b amvs not including this one, and one of em wuz a beta........SHAME!! SHAME!! SHAME on me LOL!! If I had a top ten of the best r&b songs I've heard in my life this would be somewhere in there. When I first heard "So Beautiful" in late 2008 I wuz in a trance at how amazing the song is and I realized at the same time that it is absolutely necessary to make a video to this song dedicated to a couple. Besides just representing the song I wanted to represent Musiq. I've been a fan of his since 2000 and hands down he is one of the best and realest r&b singers alive today, he has shown no signs of stopping or changing his game for a decade and I hope he continues for at least another decade due how he represents real r&b in this day and age.
At the time I came up with the initiative to make the video I couldnt settle on just one single source so I decided to make the video a mix, and I couldnt decide on whether it should be purely animes or video games so I decided to do both and use couples from all the animes and games I've watched and played. At the same time I came up with the idea I wuz just about to start working on my fanservice vid which wuz my 21st and I knew it would take me a long time to gather everything I needed to make So Beautiful a reality so I dedicated myself on working on the vid off and on after I finished my fanservice vid. Since I first started working on it I've watched more animes and played more games than I did when I first came up with the concept so the ideas on what to do throughout the vid just kept coming at me. I didnt tell anyone about this vid since I didnt know exactly when it'll be finished but I finally settled on a majority of everything to use back in June. When I came up with a certain part of the video I went to a very good friend of mine by the username of Cryhog whose a cosplayer and fandubber for help and she helped me out in a big way in this amv'gmv that you'll recoginize as you watch this. From the bottom of my heart thank you very much and I'm glad you had a part in making this vid a reality. Be sure to check her channel out: http://www.youtube.com/user/cryhog
I'm glad I had the patience to wait to finish this up because since I first started editing my skills improved and I'm ecstatic to use every couple I've recognized thru the animes and games I've watched and played. Of course I couldnt use every single source in one song so midway thru creating this I decided to use a separate song to use as a sorta slideshow of the couples. I heard Minako's "They'll Never Be Goodbye" during the credits of Metropolis when I watched it in 2001 and I thought I wuz in heaven at how beautiful the song wuz, it's the best r&b song I've heard from a japanese singer and I wanted to use it for the slideshow.
Alotta games were used in this with a good many being rpgs which is my favorite video game genre for many, MANY reasons. One of the reasons is that they flesh out relationships between characters more, espeically couples. Some of them started off as childhood friends and others met later on. The roads that leads these different people to hook up arent easy as they overcome they're own personal problems and they don't do it alone as they discover that another person is willing to help them and they do so in return in helping them, which leads them to realizing how much they care for each other. Some of them get married and have families, some of them tragically die before they can, and some are left unresolved but bottom line they leave marks in another person's life that makes them discover what love truly is and can be with enough effort. The same applies to the other genres of games and animes involved in this gmv/amv.
I honestly do not know how much hours wuz put into this since I've been working on and off it for 2 years but I betcha a million bucks if I had it that I put extremely way more time in collecting and preparing all the footages than I did editing this. Using different softwares I got all the footages from my game cartidges and disks and anime dvds and even more softwares converting them so they would work in my movie editors, I knew what I wuz getting into when I came up with this gmv/amv so I expected myself in having to go more than that extra mile to make this vid a reality. Certain days when I know I'm not gonna be home for a long time due to work or college for example I would leave my laptop and other computer on so the softwares would be up and runnin to collect and convert the footages. Sometimes when I came home I would notice something unexpected happen and I would have to start all over again to my dismays. Alotta rubbing alcohol wuz used LOL. And the ways I wanted to edit some parts took more power than Vegas could handle so After Effects, Photoshop, and Particle Illusion came in handy when I needed them.
I'm both extremely happy and a bit sad that this vid is finished since I spent so much time on it, I'm glad not to edit to this song again mos def LOL but I still listen to it like a crack fiend when I can. This is more of a personal project for myself so I know not everyone has played every game and watched every anime in this but if you see a few then you'll see that you may have a lot in common with me in terms of video games and animes. Regardless I hope everyone enjoys it to the fullest and a big thank you again to Cryhog for helping me with, God bless you baby. Musiq, you the fuckin man. Keep making it do what it do.
