  Quick description: I wanted to make an Escaflowne vid for quite some time now. It's such great footage, has material for all AMV genres and I simply had to use it. The way I see Escaflowne isn't "Hitomi's adventure" or "Van's revenge" or "love" it's...war. A war that threatens to destroy the entire world of Gaia and kill all the residents. A war filled with hatred, insanity, sorrow, anger and wrath. The video shows this war from the perspective of two characters that are fighting on different sides and at the same time are two biggest enemies. Dilindau (white haired guy with crazy look upon his face) & Vahn( the other, black haired dude).
  
  Story/Concept: As mentioned above the video shows the war from the perspective of 2 characters, but this isn't a video only about their rivalry. They do fight a lot between one another in the video, but then again they have different motives. Dilindau's motiv is just to obey orders, fight for his king and conquer Vahn's country, while Vahn is fighting for his friends and loved ones (which is why I showed Alen-Vahn's best friend and Hitomi-his girlfriend several times in the video). So Dilindau is the bad guy and Vahn's the good guy. At first I wanted this to be just a profile of Dilindau, but there's simply so much more to this song than just that...and I didn't have enough material :P. The other characters that appear have episodical roles since war is a tragedy of many different people not just 2 dudes. Even frienship is something that can be changed by war (scenes with Vahn and Alen fighting).
  
  Sond/Anime: I mainly got inspired by two very badass vids: Breeman's "Soujiro's Lost Soul" (to use Blind guardian) and Fluxmeister's "Fate" (to use Escaflowne). Once I heard the lyrics of "Battlefield" Escaflowne striked me instantly. Everything fits so well. Blind Guardian is one of my most favourite bands and I consider making a video to your favourite band obligatory. Their thematics are incredible, followed with powerful vocals and insane instrumental follow (will be elaborated further on). I'm very pleased how it turned out.
  
  Editing/Technical etc. I started working on it on Sep. 1st and finished it Nov. 16th. During that period I only skipped working on it for 7 days due to a trip and 2 days cause of exams. Weekends were especially tiring since I'd wake up at 8 AM and work till 10 PM while only finding time for meals and to go out with friends during the night. Premiere is a bitch, as you all probably know, and it pissed me off so much that I had to break the project in 17 pices (each long 30 secs or a bit more) just so it doesn't crash :pissed:. The result....Bote vs Premiere 1:0.....pawned! Seriously, I didn't have any problems at all since all those short projects didn't require much memory. YES!
  
  Now this is a saying that applies for everyone "The better the band you use, the bigger your editing ordeal is." Blind Guardian has so much going on in their songs that I went almost crazy trying to follow them:
  
  Compression-Wow, I don't really know what to say...Xvid sux, that'd be the first :P. It doesn't suck, but let's face it...videos with a lot of motion aren't it's cup of tea. DWChang borrowed me the script AD wrote (and I commend him for it) which made the anime look 2X better than on the DVD. Trust me it looked godly. However, the 1st pass with 640X480|YV12|24fps|no audio| was 220 MB's! WTF? Ok, so I adjusted the resolution to 512X384 and it still looked great (not as great as at 640X480), but it was 120 MB's! Ok, 2nd pass at 85 MB's looked better than 70% of all org's videos, but it had pixelisation when there's a lot of fighting. So I did another 2nd pass at 95 MB's (current version) and was partially satisfied. Still, it's to much for a 6 minute video, but going lower than 95 would've made it awful and I don't want people bitch about my compression when I know everything about it. This time it was the sources fault.
  
  
  To conclude, I think my editing improved a ton with this vid.
