SPOILER ALERT
Ok, to start off this description i'm just gonna say this is the most fun I've had editing an AMV since "Enter Gaara."
Had the idea to do this quite a while ago, when I picked up Megadeth's "Risk." Not that good of an album, but Breadline stuck out . And with the opening lyrics "Aint got no Job, Aint got no Smoke" I instantly thought of Spike. But then I cast the idea aside thinking it wouldn't come out that great. Until I was about to start a different Cowboy Bebop AMV recently, and stumbled back upon this song unexpectedly.
I downloaded the remastered version of the song, and had all the Cowboy Bebop DVD footage on my computer already, so I just said "What the hell, I'll see how this comes out." After editing the first few scenes, I could tell that this AMV was gonna go somewhere. I just wasn't sure where yet.
This AMV is shorter than most of my vids, clocking in at a total of 4 minutes, 49 seconds, including a custom intro made for me by DaCoolGohan (Thanks a ton for that!) and the usual title clips at the end. The song is by a more well known band than most of my AMVs use, and the feel of the song is less intricate and progressive yet still has good musicians and some cool guitar soloing. With shorter length, and more popularity to the band, I hope to have this AMV actually get popular, as opposed to my other recent AMVs which are still pretty much unknown compared to classics of mine like "Enter Gaara."
Anyways, as I was editing this video, I didn't feel the need to really add many effects. A few overlays here and there, but mostly just good timing. The feel of the anime and the feel of the song just merged beautifully and the lyrics fit Spike all the way through. During the guitar solos I go a little more intense on effects and stuff, but I still keep the flow going fine.
The end of this AMV was the toughest part, but I think I pulled it off pretty well, didn't want to go too crazy with effects and overlays there either, but it looks great with the fast clip changes.
This is the fastest AMV i've finished in a while, took less than a month to complete. My last one "The Circle Breaks" took nearly 6 months. I guess some videos are just easier to make than others, especially ones that just flow out of you like this one did. During the editing process I felt as though some higher power had taken control of me, and was using me as a medium to create this AMV lol.
Lyrics:
Ain't got no job
Ain't got no smoke
Ain't got a car
His life's a joke
Living on the skids
Thinks the world's just fine
Forgot what he did
Dancing on the breadline
No one there to bind him
Nothing to remind him
Nowhere left to find him
About to lose his lifeline
He's dancing on the breadline
Forgot who he is
Forgot who he was
Used to call the shots
Now he can't connect the dots
A mover and shaker
Getting closer to his maker
Lower than a hemline
Dancing on the breadline
No one there to bind him
Nothing to remind him
Nowhere left to find him
About to lose his lifeline
He's looking for a headline
Sniffing up the white lines
He's dancing on the breadline
Watch him dance
About to lose his lifeline
He's looking for a headline
Sniffing up the white lines
He's dancing on the breadline
About to lose his lifeline
He's dancing on the breadline
No one, nothing, nowhere
Dancing on the breadline
He forgot and he ain't got nothing
