ROUND TWO
Oh hi there :O It's round 2 time! It's been 1 month since the tournament started and we've already down roughly half of all the matches in the tournament overall. Pretty damn awesome! We started with 96, and we're now down to 48. Time to cut that number down to 24.
Round 2 is going to function pretty much exactly the same way as round 1. For those editors left in the tournament, it will be up to you to figure out when you want to do your match with your opponent. So far I have had some people asking me questions about time zone differences and difficulty finding a good time for both people. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN EDIT AT DIFFERENT TIMES IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES. Obviously I do PREFER that you do your videos at the same time. It makes it easier on me and personally I think it adds a bit to the fun of the competition. However, if it means getting your videos done sooner, then by all means, schedule your editing times differently. It won't affect judging or anything like that. All you need to do is just send me a PM, e-mail, IM, whatever about when EXACTLY (in Central Daylight Time) you want to do your match.
And I know I shouldn't have to reiterate this, but PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE ONLINE 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR EDITING TIME BEGINS. This isn't a specific/hard-deadline. Let's say you plan to edit at 5pm on Saturday. If I'm in IRC on Friday and it's like, 3pm and I see both you and your opponent, I'll ask you both if you have your source lists ready. If you do, we'll just go ahead and roll and get it over with. Same goes if you're both a bit busy until like 7 or 8pm. As long as it's a considerable amount of time before your match and you both have enough time to prepare, it's all good.
And speaking of IRC, if you still don't know how it works or where to go, here's that handy link again.
(This goes to a web-based IRC client that goes straight into #AMV on SynIRC right after you choose a nickname)
Anyways...
So, if you ended up watching Episode 2 of the tournament series all the way to the end, you already know about the "theme" for round 2. I figured I should probably go ahead and put it here since I don't want to FORCE everybody to have to download/stream the whole thing if they don't want to.
All of the songs in round 2 are cover songs. If you don't know what that means, google it. So rather than tell you the genre of the song you're going to edit to, the only hint I will give is who the ORIGINAL ARTIST of the song is. Meaning, not the band/artist who is performing the cover, but who wrote/performed the song originally. Got it? Good.
Keep in mind that there are all kinds of cover songs. Sometimes they'll take the song and just do a carbon copy of the original, but with a different singer. Sometimes they'll take the original and transform it into something completely different. There's a good mix of both in the song list, so don't go into it expecting it to be one or the other.
Well anyways, let me thank everyone once again for participating. I hope you're having as much fun with this as I am. And best of luck to everybody!
